Moisturisers vs Lotions

Moisturisers vs Lotions
Good news.. summers on the way!

To enjoy soft, smooth, summer skin, you might like to Exfoliate, then follow with a moisture rich Pure Body Oil or Beautiful Body Moisturiser.

Although do you wonder which is better?  A creamy moisturiser or a body oil?

Essentially it comes down to personal choice.  We might just prefer the smell or feel of an oil over a lotion, although, in the world of dermatology, the general consensus is:

Body Oil
  • Valuable nutrients found in plant oils area readily absorbed by the skin.
  • Body Oils are non-comedogenic as they don’t clog the pores and are actually less greasy and absorbed faster by the skin.
  • Body Oils are occlusive, meaning they seal the skin preventing trans epidermal water loss (TEWL).
Lotions and creamy moisturisers

  • The number one ingredient in lotions is usually water which can carry Actives which in turn can support irritating skin conditions.
  • Body lotions are usually enriched with aloe vera, shea butter and beeswax which are more slowly absorbed by the skin, effectively healing damaged skin.

In all, if you have extremely dry skin that’s flaky and itchy, the best option is to use both! Apply a body moisturiser first with all it’s actives, then a body oil over the top to seal in the goodness and ensure the actives are easily absorbed by the skin.

If your skin is just a little dry and tight, then a body oil or a body lotion can certainly be effective in supporting your skin.
